The Pecos River carves a significant course through this portion of Val Verde County, defining the western edge of a landscape dominated by a network of drainage systems. The terrain is characterized by numerous named ravines and breaks, including the namesake Everett Canyon, which feeds into the larger river basin. Evidence of the region’s topography is seen in the deep incisions of Deep Canyon and the winding paths of Live Oak Canyon and Little Live Oak Canyon.
