About this map

Havasupai Indian Reservation land and the Grand Canyon National Park meet in this 1988 provisional survey, revealing a landscape defined by dramatic elevation changes and named geographical features. The Colorado River carves through the Granite Gorge, marked by the turbulent Walthonberg Rapids and Hakatai Rapids. On the south side of the river, the terrain rises into complex formations like the Aztec Amphitheater and Evolution Amphitheater, while distinct plateaus such as the Drummond Plateau and Darwin Plateau dominate the higher elevations. Evidence of land use and management is visible through the presence of a Ranger Station, several water tanks like Mexican Jack Tank and Big Jim Tank, and a Cem located near the reservation boundary. The mapping of Royal Arch Creek and Elves Chasm highlights the intricate drainage systems that feed into the main river corridor.
