The Tanana River cuts through the southern portion of this interior Alaska landscape, providing a primary drainage for the surrounding hills and lowlands. To the north, the terrain is defined by the winding paths of Little Goldstream Creek and Bonanza Creek, which carve through the dense contours of the region. This 2024 survey captures the significant presence of Fort Wainwright in the southeast, a major military installation that has historically shaped the development of the Fairbanks area.
