The international border between Minnesota and Ontario defines the northern edge of this landscape, where the Pigeon River flows through a heavily forested wilderness. This 2019 survey of the Superior National Forest captures a terrain dominated by hydrologic networks, from the broad wetlands of the Swamp River to smaller drainages like Irish Cr and Carlson Cr. The topography is punctuated by the significant elevation of Farquhar Peak in the southern portion of the quadrangle.
