Whitecone stands as the primary point of human settlement in this high desert landscape, positioned near the northern boundary of the survey. The terrain is defined by the sharp elevations of Stephen Butte and the distinctive plateaus of First Flat Mesa and Second Flat Mesa. These landforms dictate the flow of seasonal water through extensive drainage systems, most notably the Ha-whi-yalin Wash which cuts across the central plains, and Coyote Wash to the south.
