The Siuslaw River dominates this coastal landscape as it flows past Florence and into the Pacific, shaping the development of the central Oregon coast. The map illustrates a complex network of waterways, from the North Fork Shoal to the winding Prosser Slough near Cushman. This area is defined by its transition from the riverine environment to the massive freshwater basins of Woahink Lake and Siltcoos Lake. To the south, Dunes City and Westlake occupy the narrow strips of land between these lakes and the ocean, while the northern sections are largely managed as part of the Siuslaw National Forest.
