The Ochoco National Forest dominates the southern half of this landscape, where the terrain rises toward the heights of Foley Butte and the surrounding Ochoco Mountains. This high-country region is defined by a dense network of seasonal drainages and springs, including Rainbow Trough Spring and Eleven Spring in the north. The boundary between Jefferson and Crook counties cuts horizontally across the center of the sheet, marking a transition in land management and topography.
