About this map

Forsyth serves as the focal point of this Monroe County landscape, characterized by its historic municipal core and educational roots. The Monroe County Courthouse stands at the town center, surrounded by established residential areas and local landmarks like Tift College. The town is bounded by several significant burial grounds, including the Forsyth City Cem and Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens, reflecting generations of local history.

Beyond the city limits, the terrain transitions into a patchwork of rural holdings and small settlements like Box Ankle. The northern reaches are defined by the winding path of the Towaliga River and its tributaries, such as Rocky Creek and Champion Cr. The map reveals a high density of family-named cemeteries and rural institutions, such as Logwall Church and its associated Logwall Cem, providing clear evidence of the community's long-standing rural church-and-cemetery network. Notable water features like Pace Lake and Millwood Lake further punctuate the landscape east and north of the main settlement.
