Fort Kipp and the settlement of Blair occupy the southern terrace of the Big Muddy Creek valley just before it reaches the Missouri River. This 2014 survey documents a landscape defined by the intersection of the river's floodplain and the high, etched benches of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Transportation follows the grain of the land, with Us-2 and the Bia-1 corridor linking these small communities.
