Fort Klamath occupies the western edge of the Wood River Valley, a landscape defined by an intricate network of natural and engineered waterways in this 2014 survey. The hydrological complexity of the region is evident in the transition from the Wood River Springs and Annie Cr down through the Melhase Ditch and Wood River Canal. This infrastructure supports the agricultural lands bordering the massive Winema National Forest, which dominates the eastern and northern reaches of the quadrangle. Local history is anchored by the Ft Klamath Cem near Or-62. The terrain climbs sharply toward the north and east, marked by landmarks such as Sun Mtn and Agency Hill, the latter of which overlooks the winding Crooked Cr and the Williamson River as they move toward the southern basin.
