Gleason sits at the southern edge of this Pennsylvania landscape, where the headwaters of Sugar Works Run and South Creek carve through the high plateaus of Armenia Mountain and Huckleberry Mountain. The terrain is defined by a dense network of high-elevation watercourses, including the north-flowing Tioga River and the dramatic Fall Brook Falls. This area has long been a site of dispersed mountain settlements and rural family life, evidenced by the numerous small burial grounds scattered across the heights, such as the Furman Family Cem and the Mcintosh Cem.
