The Milk River flows along the southern edge of this Blaine County landscape, where the prairie is defined by deep drainage patterns and a network of rural routes. The terrain is characterized by prominent erosional features, most notably Grable Coulee and Harts Coulee, which cut through the landscape toward the river valley. In the southwest corner, the Thirtymile Reservoir and its associated Thirtymile Creek provide a vital water source in an otherwise semi-arid stretch of northern Montana.
