Medicine Bow National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape, where the headwaters of several major drainages diverge. The terrain is defined by the complex branching of Horse Creek and its South Fork to the north, while the southern half of the sheet is carved by the extensive network of the Lodgepole Creek system. These include the North Branch, Middle Lodgepole Creek, and South Lodgepole Creek, which flow eastward through the Laramie Range.

Evidence of human activity is scattered across the high country, including several mines and a lonely Grave situated near Eagle Rock Road. The intersection of Albany and Laramie counties runs along the eastern edge of the quadrangle, crossing through the prominent slopes of Pitcher Hill and the rugged drainage of Tromley Gulch. This 1990s revision provides a detailed view of the infrastructure supporting the forest, from the Artillery Spring to the network of tracks like Camp Carey Road and Telephone Road.
