About this map

Greenbrier and the southern fringes of Springfield anchor this topographic survey of the Tennessee borderlands between Robertson and Davidson counties. The landscape is defined by the headwaters of the Sulphur Fork Red River, where numerous small streams like Wartrace Cr and Carr Cr have carved a series of hollows and ridges, most notably Possum Trot Hollow and the Dividing Ridge. The area's agricultural and rural heritage is evident in the high density of family cemeteries, such as the Chambliss Cem, Eidson Cem, and McMurray Cem, which are scattered throughout the hills near Courtland and Oakland. Local recreation and water resources are centered around several small impoundments, including Greenbrier Lake, Ridgetop Lake, and the Greenbrier Recreation Club Lake, reflecting the post-war development of these highland communities near Hygeia Springs.
