2021 Map of Guijarral Hills

USGS Topo · Published 2021

About this map

The Guijarral Hills dominate the southern portion of this landscape near the edge of the San Joaquin Valley, marking a transition between the elevated topography of Anticline Ridge and the floor of the Central Valley. This region, just northeast of Coalinga, is defined by a network of drainage systems and artificial waterways essential to California's interior agricultural and industrial economy. Los Gatos Creek and Zapato Chino Creek wind through the hills, while the Coalinga Canal cuts across the western flats to manage water resources. The small settlement of Turk serves as a local landmark amidst a vast grid of section lines and access roads like W Jayne Ave and S El Dorado Ave. The map also captures the Polvadero Gap, a natural pass between the hills and the northern reaches of Pleasant Valley.
