The Colorado River winds through the northern reaches of this West Texas landscape, where the terrain transitions from the river valley to the higher elevations of the Borden and Howard County line. The southern portion is dominated by the prominent peaks of West Gunsight Mtn and East Gunsight Mtn, providing significant relief against the surrounding draws and hollows. The area is defined by an extensive network of water management features, including dozens of stock tanks such as Root Plow Tank, Bombsight Tank, and Deep Tank.
