Schuchuli and the surrounding desert landscape of the Sonoran Desert are detailed in this study of southern Arizona near the turn of the 21st century. The map highlights a region defined by dramatic topography, from the Pozo Redondo Mountains in the north to the jagged peaks of the Ajo Range in the south. Within the southwestern portion of the sheet, the boundary of the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument indicates protected wilderness areas. Significant local landmarks include the Gunsight Cem near the intersection of Indian Rte 3 and Indian Rte 5. The drainage patterns of the Gunsight Wash and Kuakatch Wash illustrate how seasonal water moves through the Pozo Redondo Valley and the Valley of the Ajo. Smaller settlements like Kuakatch are situated near the prominent Kuakatch Pass, providing insight into the sparse residential and transport network of Pima County.
