Hannah sits at the heart of this Cavalier County landscape, just south of the border between the United States of America and Canada. The town's grid is defined by streets such as Railroad St and 1st Ave, reflecting its orientation toward historical transportation routes. Just north of the main settlement lies the Hannah Cem, a primary site for genealogical research in this northern prairie region. The surrounding terrain is characterized by numerous small glacial depressions and wetlands typical of the Red River Valley hinterlands. Significant drainage is provided by the winding path of Snowflake Creek and its tributary, W Snowflake Cr, which flow toward the larger expanse of Rush Lake in the southern portion of the quadrangle. This 2014 survey documents the enduring agricultural section-line road system that organizes the modern North Dakota landscape.
