The Harquahala Mountains dominate this high-desert terrain along the boundary of La Paz and Maricopa counties. Anchored by the prominent Harquahala Mtn, the landscape is defined by a complex network of drainage systems and high passes. To the north, Dushey Canyon and Browns Canyon carve deep into the slopes, while Sunset Pass provides a transition point near the center of the sheet.
