The Sauceda Mountains dominate this arid landscape, rising sharply from the desert floor into the high-elevation peak of Hat Mountain. Much of this territory is defined by the Luke Air Force Range, a significant military training installation that oversees the remote terrain. The presence of several structures, including an Observation Tower and a Hellipad Observation Tower, indicates the specialized utility of this land for aerial observation and range management during the mid-1980s.
