The Nestucca River and its major tributaries, Three Rivers and Nestucca Cr, anchor this survey of the northern Oregon Coast Range. The settlement of Hebo sits at the confluence of these waters, surrounded by the high elevations of the Siuslaw National Forest. The landscape is defined by its ridge systems, including Gauldy Ridge and the prominent heights of Mt Hebo and Little Hebo. Notable for local historians and genealogists are the Nestucca Valley Community Cem and the Gist Cem, both located near the river valleys. A complex network of Forest Service roads, such as Nat For Dev Rd 14 and Nat For Dev Rd 15, provides access to these remote peaks and internal features like Rhodes Rearing Pond and Hebo Lake, reflecting the region's managed timber and recreation infrastructure.
