The Blackfoot Reservoir dominates the southwestern corner of this landscape, its waters broken by a series of landforms including Chain Island, Gull Island, and Willow Island. To the east, the settlement of Henry sits near the confluence of Meadow Creek and the Little Blackfoot River, serving as a central point in a region defined by high-altitude volcanic and mountain features. The topography is notably marked by the Blackfoot Lava Field and prominent peaks like Crater Mtn and Camp Peak. This high-country Idaho terrain transitions from the water-rich meadows of Long Valley and Chubb Flat to the steeper elevations of Pelican Ridge and Wilson Pass. Historical traces of movement are found along the Blackfoot-N Access Rd and near the intriguing Robbers Roost, while numerous water sources like Gaston Beatty Spring and Warm Spring indicate the critical hydrology of the high desert plateau.
