Military Road 257 cuts through the northern reaches of this Okaloosa County landscape, a significant human imprint on an otherwise water-defined terrain. The area is characterized by an intricate drainage system including Malone Cr, Metts Cr, and Middle Cr, all flowing through a topography marked by subtle elevation changes and seasonal wetlands. The southern portion of the quadrangle is dominated by the sprawling East Bay Swamp, where Live Oak Cr and Turtle Cr converge. Scattered across the landscape are isolated water bodies such as Pocosin Pond, Green Pond, and Allison Pond, which suggest the low-lying, poorly drained nature of the Florida panhandle interior. This 2018 survey illustrates a region largely defined by its natural hydrology and strategic transport corridors, rather than dense urban settlement.
