The Old Indian Treaty Boundary and its namesake Treaty Boundary Road cut a historical line across this portion of northern Illinois in the early 1980s. The landscape is defined by an extensive network of drainage infrastructure, including the Big Slough Ditch, Wildcat Ditch, and Central Special Ditch, which transformed the low-lying terrain into productive farmland. Small communities and rural junctions such as Hooppole, Leon Corners, and Aliceville serve as the primary hubs for the surrounding townships.
