Horseshoe Basin defines the central topography of this northeastern Montana landscape, where the seasonal flow of the W Fork Poplar River carves through the undulating plains of Daniels County. The terrain is marked by significant elevation changes at Gregerson Hill and along the deep depressions of Lewarton Coulee and Blackhawk Coulee. A network of rural section roads, including Truax Rd and Kleeman Rd, provides access to the high northern reaches of the quadrangle.
