Hugo serves as the focal point of this Eastern Plains landscape, situated along the banks of Big Sandy Creek. As the county seat, the town is anchored by the Lincoln County Courthouse and a street grid extending from 1st St to 7th St. The area's long-standing community history is reflected in its numerous burial sites, including the Hugo Evergreen Cem, Hugo Old Cem, and Mount Calvary Cem, as well as the singular Doctor A H Coulson Grave located just west of the town center.
