The North Santiam River carves through the timberlands of the Willamette National Forest on this 2014 survey of the central Oregon Cascades. The map centers on the small riverside community of Idanha and the adjacent settlement of New Idanha, following the corridor of the N Santiam Hwy. The industrial footprint of the timber industry is clearly visible through features like the Idanha Log Pond, while the surrounding terrain is a network of forest service roads including Coopers Ridge Rd and Nat For Dev Rd 2233. High-elevation landmarks such as Bachelor Mtn and Cub Point tower over a landscape dotted with numerous small lakes and meadows, from Mud Puppy Lake to Bruno Meadows. This study documents the modern intersection of recreational access and resource management in Marion and Linn counties.
