Imperial Valley occupies the southern reaches of this high-desert landscape on the border of Deschutes and Crook counties. The terrain is defined by volcanic features and drainage patterns typical of the Oregon interior, most notably the seasonal course of the Dry River as it cuts north through the central sections. Grassy Butte stands as a prominent topographical landmark in the western portion of the quadrangle, surrounded by a network of rural routes that facilitate access through this remote range.
