1977 Map of Indian Head

USGS Topo · Published 1982

About this map

Potomac River shoreline and the developed peninsula of Indian Head define this late 1970s orthophotoquad, which uses rectified aerial imagery to show the physical landscape of Charles County. The contrast between the industrial and residential footprint at Indian Head and the surrounding rural woodland is striking, particularly as the terrain moves south toward Chicamuxen and Doncaster. The winding course of Mattawoman Creek separates the northern developments from the scattered farmsteads and crossroads of the interior.
