Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore meets the southern waters of Lake Superior in this survey of the Michigan coastline. The dramatic geology of the Upper Peninsula is evident at Miners Castle Point and the steep elevations overlooking Trout Bay and Grand Island Harbor Bay. To the south, the landscape transitions into the deep woods of the Hiawatha National Forest, where the Miners River flows toward its outlet near Sand Point.
