Rock Camp and the namesake settlement of Interior anchor this 2019 survey of the rugged border between West Virginia and Virginia. Situated within the Jefferson National Forest, the landscape is defined by the high ridges of Potts Mountain and the deep drainage of Stony Creek. The map documents a blend of remote academic research at the University of Virginia Mountain Lake Biological Station and traditional Appalachian land use, including family burial sites such as the Ballard-Harvey Cem and Fortner Cem.
