Brasstown Bald dominates the northern skyline of this Georgia mountain landscape, crowned by the Brasstown Lookout Tower near the junction of Union and Towns counties. The high elevation terrain is defined by a dense network of ridges and gaps, including Buzzard Roost Ridge, Wolfpen Ridge, and the prominent Jacks Gap along State Rte 180. Much of the area is protected within the Chattahoochee National Forest, though human presence is marked by scattered mountain settlements like Fain and Town Creek.
