Boise National Forest encompasses this high-elevation landscape in Boise County, where the South Fork Payette River cuts through the northern reaches near the SFP River Access. The area is defined by a network of steep ridgelines and peaks, most notably Jackson Peak, which features the Jackson Peak Lookout and the Jackson Peak Spring Road. A complex system of drainage basins feeds into the Crooked River and Pikes Fork, with numerous named tributaries such as Archie Creek, Fivemile Creek, and Tenmile Creek carving through the mountain passes.
