Janesville anchors the northern portion of this Waseca County landscape, where the street grid of the town site meets the winding path of Old US Hwy 14. The terrain is characterized by a high density of wetlands and small basins typical of this region, including Buffalo Lake and Helena Lake. To the south, the smaller settlement of Alma City sits near the banks of the Le Sueur River, which meanders across the southern sections of the quadrangle.
