Jericho and the surrounding pine-clad terrain of Kisatchie National Forest anchor this 1950s survey, updated in the early 1990s. The landscape is defined by the Rough Hills and a complex drainage system including Sieper Creek, Williamson Creek, and Comrade Creek. These waterways and their tributaries carved the winding contours that dictated the placement of early settlements and roads through Rapides and Vernon Parishes.

Genealogical interest is found in the scattered rural community centers such as Pisgah Church and several family-named burial grounds, including Noel Cemetery, Hill Cemetery, and Bell Cemetery. A distinctive linear feature labeled Grade suggests the path of a former logging railroad or improved road bed, a common artifact of the region's timber-driven economy. In the northeast, the presence of Cotile Lake indicates the expansion of local water resources and recreation areas since the mid-20th century.
