Owyhee Canyon and the winding course of the Owyhee River dominate this high-desert landscape in southwestern Idaho. The area is defined by its sophisticated water management infrastructure, where numerous catchments like Jackson Reservoir, Bert Monday Reservoir, and Cleveland Reservoir dot the arid terrain to support local ranching and land use. The river descends through the canyon before opening into the marshy bottomlands of Pleasant Valley and Duck Valley, where Ross Slough feeds into the main channel.
