The East Branch Au Sable River (also labeled as E Br Au Sable River) winds through this glacial landscape, defining the transition between the Otsego and Crawford county line. This 2014 survey reveals a densely pocketed terrain of kettle lakes and wetlands, most notably KP Lake, Jones Lake, and Guthrie Lake. The area is characterized by a significant network of secondary roads and trails, such as Stephan Bridge Rd and W CR-612, which provide access to these scattered water bodies.
