The Shasta-Trinity National Forest landscape here is defined by high-altitude flats and volcanic landforms, notably the prominence of Black Fox Mountain topped by the Black Fox Lookout. Near the southern boundary, the McCloud River flows past several recreation sites, including Algoma Campground and Cattle Camp Campground. The settlement of Kinyon is situated along the southern edge of the quadrangle, serving as a point of reference near the Volcanic Scenic Byway.
