Pine Bluff and its surrounding floodplains are defined by the winding course of the Arkansas River and an intricate network of wetlands, including Bayou Bartholomew and Deep Bayou. This 2011 survey captures the southeastern expansion of the city toward Grider Field and the smaller settlements of Fairfield, Glenlake, and Ladd. The landscape is heavily influenced by flood control infrastructure, notably the Frenchtown-Auburn Levy and its associated access road, which protects the low-lying Alexander Flat and Boyd Point regions.
