Lake George and its namesake Lake George Cem define the northwest corner of this prairie landscape at the boundary of Brule and Charles Mix counties. The terrain is characterized by the intermittent flow of Castalia Cr and Platte Creek, which meander toward the reservoir of Lake Platte in the southeast. This 2015 survey reveals a disciplined section-line road network, including CR-52 and CR-78, which segments the rural acreage. The presence of Platte Lake Rd and Golf Course Rd near the water suggests the modern recreational character of the lakefront area, contrasting with the quiet, inland location of the township's early burial grounds.
