Olney occupies the southeastern corner of this landscape, positioned along the border between Archer and Young counties. This North Texas region is defined by an extensive network of water management features, including Lake Olney and Lake Cooper, which collect the flow of Mesquite Creek. The drainage patterns are further marked by the S Fork Little Wichita River and various family-named impoundments such as Furr Lake, Megargel Cr Reservoir, and Powell Lake.
