1960 Map of Leon Peak

USGS Topo · Published 1984

About this map

Leon Peak towers over a complex landscape of water management and recreation within the Grand Mesa National Forest. By the mid-20th century, this high plateau straddling the boundary of Mesa and Delta counties had been engineered into a dense network of catchments and conveyances. Numerous small-scale reservoirs, including Sackett Reservoir, Kehmeier Reservoir, and the Cedar Mesa Reservoir, dot the terrain, linked by features like the Leon Tunnel and the Overland Ditch.
