The Kootenai River carves a deep valley through the northern Rockies, anchoring the town of Libby within a landscape defined by the Purcell Mountains and the Cabinet Mountains. This 2024 survey captures the civic heart of Lincoln County, including the Lincoln County Courthouse and the local Libby Cem, situated along the southern banks where the terrain levels into Sheldon Flats. The industrial and transport backbone of the region is evident in the BNSF Railway corridor and a dense network of forest development roads, such as Natl Forest Develop Road 6146 Rd, which penetrate the surrounding Kootenai National Forest. Numerous tributaries, including Pipe Creek and Flower Creek, drain the high ridges of Bobtail Ridge and Sheldon Mtn, illustrating the complex hydrology that has shaped the area's timber and settlement patterns.
