The Mogollon Rim serves as the dominant geographic divider on this sheet, marking the dramatic boundary between the Sitgreaves National Forest to the north and the Fort Apache Indian Reservation to the south. The terrain is characterized by a series of deep drainages including Limestone Canyon and Turkey Canyon, which descend from the high rim into the reservation. A notable remnant of early 20th-century industry is the Old Railroad Grade visible in the northeast, while the Rim Road follows the precipice of the plateau. Vital water sources for the region, such as Jumpoff Spring and Mud Spring, are scattered throughout the rugged forest landscape. Infrastructure is sparse but includes the Limestone Fire Station and a nearby Lookout Tower, reflecting the land management and fire prevention priorities within these vast federal and tribal lands during the late 1970s.
