Flathead National Forest land dominates this western Montana landscape, where the peaks of Lion Mtn and Blacktail Mtn rise above the drainage systems of the Flathead Valley. The 2017 survey details a network of backcountry access roads and trails, including the Foys to Blacktail Trail and the Catwalk TRL, which wind through the timbered slopes. Along the eastern edge of the map, the settlements of Somers and Lakeside serve as gateways to the high country.
