Flathead National Forest encompasses the majority of this mountain landscape south of the Flathead Valley. The settlement of Forest Hill Village sits in the northeast corner, serving as a gateway to the peaks and ridges that define the area's geography. Significant summits like Lion Mtn, Baldy Mtn, and Blacktail Mtn provide the high points for a dense network of forest service roads and recreational paths. Long-distance routes such as the Foys To Blacktail Trail and the Lakeside To Blacktail path traverse the drainages of Patrick Creek and Stoner Creek. The map details numerous smaller water features and local landmarks, including the isolated Lost Lake and the various residential roads like Shelter Valley Drive and McKenzie Way that branch into the foothills near the village.
