Mooney Basin and the winding course of Rattlesnake Canyon dominate this high-desert landscape in northeastern Nevada. This 2014 survey captures a sparsely populated region of White Pine County where the terrain transitions from the steep ridges of the basin down into the broad expanse of Long Valley. The map highlights the essential, limited infrastructure of the area, primarily defined by the seasonal drainage of Long Valley Slough and a few critical county routes like Cr-3 and Cr-4. These roads provide the primary access through the public lands and township boundaries of T23N and T22N, following the natural contours of the desert floor. It is a portrait of a landscape defined by its hydrology and the vast distances between remote landmarks.
