Longhorn Reservoir sits at the southern end of this high-desert landscape, capturing seasonal runoff from the surrounding drainages. The terrain is defined by a network of ephemeral watercourses, including the prominent Armijo Draw which cuts across the central portion of the quadrangle. This area on the Santa Fe and Torrance County line shows a transition from larger rural tracts to emerging residential road networks in the southwest.
