Lunar Crater and the surrounding volcanic field dominate this portion of the Pancake Range in Nye County. The landscape is defined by stark geological formations, including the prominent Easy Chair Crater and the distinct ridgelines of the Lunar Cuesta and Little Lunar Cuesta. To the northeast, the terrain levels into the Big Sand Springs Valley, while the southeastern corner is marked by the dry bed of Lunar Lake. Water sources in this arid environment are few, represented by Lava Bed Spring and its associated Lava Bed Catch Basin near the northern boundary. Modern access is limited, primarily through Easy Chair Crater Rd, reflecting the isolation of this high-desert volcanic landscape and its unique structural features like Monocline Canyon and North Kidney Butte.
