The Independence Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape in northern Elko County, with the protected lands of the Humboldt National Forest covering much of the western terrain. The area is defined by a complex network of springs and drainages, including the aptly named Spaghetti Spring and Spaghetti Canyon, which feed into larger water systems like Mahala Cr. Historical ranching infrastructure is evident in the presence of the Saval Ranch Rd and the Saval Reservoir to the east.
